F1: 10 Reasons We Will Never Rate Lewis Hamilton
Posted: March 31, 2011 Filed under: Formula One | Tags: F1, Hamilton arrogance, Lewis Hamilton, mclaren, we hate hamilton Leave a comment »Although McLaren’s 2008 world champion driver Lewis Hamilton is one of F1′s most popular personalities, our own view is decidedly tepid. Too quick to deceive and a bit smug in his approach to the support, we often wonder why we can’t warm up to Lewis. Here are 10 reasons:
1. Lying to race stewards after the 2009 Australian Grand Prix.
2. Getting arrested for driving “donuts” in Australia after the 2010 grand prix.
3. His girlfriend.
4. His smug dismissal of last year’s World Championship constructor, Red Bull, as ” just a drinks company”. (Beat you, though, didn’t they?)
5. Binning it in the gravel trap on pit-in during the Chinese GP in 2007.
6. Have we mentioned his girlfriend yet?
7. Whining about Red Bull‘s front wing this year after being beaten in Australia.
8. Rear-ending Kimi Raikkonen for no apparent reason in the pits at the Canadian GP in 2008.
9. Stopping on track after qualifying for the Canadian GP in 2010, in order to save fuel for an FIA test. Fined $10,000.
10. Refusing to allow Alonso to pit first in Hungary in 2007, despite having agreed to do before qualifying.
Need more reasons?
UPDATED: 11. Telling the BBC that he gets extra attention from the stewards because “I’m black”, while referring to the stewarding as “a frickin’ joke”. Really, Lewis? Really?
